Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) – west

It would be difficult to name all the famous historical personalities who have been dazzled and fascinated by the beauty of Karlovy Vary, the most renowned of Czech spa resorts, founded by King Charles IV.

But to give just one example, we might mention the name of the renowned French architect Le Corbusier, who once remarked that Karlovy Vary gives the impression of being a row of Art Nouveau cakes. A dense network of promenade circuits with pavilions and restaurants, majestic architecture of spa colonnades and the overall charm have all made the town an immensely popular destination. However, the western section of Krušné Hory is worth visiting also because of the radioactive spa of Jáchymov, a splendid Premonstratensian monastery in Teplá, skiing resorts in Klínovec and Boží Dar or because of the opportunity to take a ride on the unique Semmering of Krušné Hory – a mountain section of the railway track from Karlovy Vary to Johannngeorgenstadt in Germany, where the trains climbs up to the altitude of 915 meters.
