Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) and foothills region
Mountains and steep valleys, culture and history, people and mysteries have all formed the unmistakable character of the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains) and Pokrušnohoří (foothills region). There are so many attractions and leisure time opportunities here – cycling, hiking, winter sports or the ever more popular adrenalin sports and mountaineering, as well as sightseeing trips to the town at the foothills of the mountains or in the nearby spa centers.
There are many picturesque castles and chateaux here, several zoos, a rich selection of lakes and summer aqua parks as well as interesting technical and technological monuments, which remind visitors of the long tradition of iron mining here in the region. You can try the interesting wines of the Most Region; vines have been grown in the historical vineyards of Hněvín Hill ever since the 11th century and the vineyards planted on the reclaimed burrows from the local coalfields represent a unique rarity in world viniculture.
