The Chinese Pavilion in the Vlašim Château Park

The Chinese Pavilion is, to this day, a dominant and rare romantic structure within the château park in Vlašim. Reconstruction of the pavilion is now complete, and it will be accessible to the public as part of a guided tour of the park.

The interior of the pavilion was furnished in a Chinese style and complemented with a glass bell and Chinese porcelain figures. Aviaries were built near the pavilion. The present form of the Chinese Pavilion is the result of alterations carried out in the 19th century.

Vlašim Château Park
By the 18th century, a game enclosure and a castle garden had been created in the valley of the River Blanice adjoining Vlašim Château. In the last quarter of the 18th century, the then owners of the estate, Marie Josef von Trautson and her husband Karel Josef von Auersperg, started to build a château park in the Romantic style on this site. Over time, a unique, natural landscaped park took shape that was complemented by an abundance of Romantic style structures and quiet corners. The Vlašim Château Park has been incorporated into the European system of protected areas within NATURA 2000.

Also open to visitors are the château cellars and the restored paths over the cliffs, which provide diversions for visitors taking a walk around the extensive park.

From June to mid-September, walks around the park with commentary on the history and present situation of the Vlašim Château Park start at 10:30, 12:30 and 14:30 from the information centre in the Château’s courtyard.

The park itself is accessible every day at no charge.
