Berghaus Mining Footpath

Premiere type: Monuments and history. We recommend for: Relaxing holiday, Active holidays.
Announced: March 2008

Surrounding the village of Černý Důl, there are many remains from past mining activity, and some of them can be seen on a roughly 1-km woodland educational path.

Visitors will find a depression created by an 80-m deep shaft of a buried uranium mine, a miners’ water flume, rock folds and the entrance of a medieval mine. On 10 information boards, there are examples of ore processing, geological profiles, maps of mines and photos taken underground. The first educational path is about the medieval excavation of ore and present research into reserves of uranium in the Krkonoše mountains. The mining community is planning to extend the route underground.
