The cathedral in the Sedlec suburb of Kutná Hora reopens for the public
Following reconstruction work lasting many years, visitors can once again see the Gothic Cathedral of the Ascension and St John the Baptist in the Sedlec suburb of Kutná Hora. The cathedral, one of Kutná Hora’s most important historical sites, has been listed as a piece of world cultural heritage by UNESCO since 1995.

Through Luhačovice in the footsteps of Leoš Janáček
In a joint effort with the Augustiniánský dům, the East Moravia Tourist Board has put together a new tourist product for visitors called ‘Luhačovice – Janáček’s Source of Inspiration’. This focuses on places where the famous composer stayed, found inspiration, composed and rested. The information comes in the form of a brochure which includes details on Leoš Janáček’s life in Luhačovice.

Restaurant at Větruše
The restaurant at the small Větruš Chateau in Ústí nad Labem has been brought back to life. The chateau closed in early 2008 despite having previously undergone extensive renovation which gave it a new lease of life. The local authority in Ústí nad Labem found a new leaseholder who opened up the chateau to the public once again in October 2009.

Císařský kámen viewing tower
In summer 2009 the timber viewing tower on Císařský kámen hill near Vratislavice nad Nisou reopened for the public to visit. The tower affords views of Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou and the Jizerské Mountains.

Security Forces Museum in Habartov

Sovinec Castle opens up more of its interiors
Visitors to Sovinec Castle in the Bruntál District can now see the Knights’ Hall and underground spaces in the South Palace and in the rock below the Upper Castle, as well as the castle’s wine cellars and food stores.

Napajedla Chateau shows off its interiors for the very first time
The previously crumbling and inaccessible chateau in Napajedly in the Zlín District has undergone partial reconstruction and opened up some interiors to the public. Visitors can take a tour, enjoy a cup of coffee, attend various cultural events and even get married or hire a room for their own event. There are plans afoot to transform the chateau into a cultural centre with an accommodation wing.

Old Royal palace opens its doors once again
The oldest section of Prague Castle, the Old Royal Palace, has undergone the most extensive restoration work to be carried out in the last 80 years. After almost three years it is once again fully accessible to visitors.

A new guided tour at Pilsen’s brewery for those not old enough to drink
In September 2009 Pilsen’s Urquell Brewery introduced a new guided tour for school children called ‘Brewing – A Czech Industrial Success Story’. The new tour allows visitors to learn a little about the wider context of the brewing trade as a celebrated piece of Czech industrial prowess and the role of Pilsen’s Urquell Brewery in the history of beer production.
